Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is an upcoming American superhero film directed by James Wan. It is the fifteenth film in the DC Extended Universe and a sequel to the 2018 film Aquaman. The screenplay was written by David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. The film stars Jason Momoa, Amber Heard, Patrick Wilson, Dolph Lundgren, and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II. Momoa came up with the story for the sequel during the filming of the first Aquaman, but Wan was not eager to rush into the next film. He agreed to oversee the development of the sequel in January 2019, and a month later, Johnson-McGoldrick signed on to write the screenplay. In August 2020, it was confirmed that Wan would direct the film and that the world-building of the first Aquaman would be expanded upon in the sequel.
